Trae Young’s injury status during today’s game against New Orleans

The Atlanta Hawks have listed Trae Young as the likely starter for tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, and Young has just been cleared to play in tonight’s game. Bogdan Bogdanovic (right hamstring; treated injury) was also listed as likely to play in this match and has also been cleared to play. Atlanta will be healthy for tonight’s game.

Much of this is due to injuries, but the Pelicans are one of the worst teams in the NBA and the statistics show it. New Orleans ranks 30th in PPG, 28th in FG%, 28th in 3PA, 27th in 3P%, 25th in FTA, 16th in rebounds and 18th in turnovers. Defensively, New Orleans ranks 23rd in PPG allowed, 27th in FG%, 24th in 3PA, and 27th in 3P%. On a clearing the glass basis, the Pelicans rank 29th in points per 100 possessions and 30th in effective field goal percentage.

Trae Young has been doing really well lately, but he didn’t have much of an impact on Saturday’s game against the Hornets. He scored 14 points, had five assists and only shot the ball nine times. Young has been more of a coordinator and set-up for his teammates this year, which has led to him leading the NBA in assists.

Dyson Daniels has set the tone defensively for the Hawks this season and he did the same on Saturday. Today he will be tasked with guarding Murray or CJ McCollum and not allowing them to score high points. Daniels will look to regain his scoring as he hasn’t scored in double figures in the last two games.

Zaccharie Risacher is getting better and better and has put together two really good games back to back. On Saturday, he played 25 minutes, shot 6-10 (2-4, three) and scored 14 points and two blocks. He is making progress and recording winning actions on both sides of the pitch.

Jalen Johnson is starting to prove that he will be an All-Star this season. On Saturday, he scored 20 points on 9-12 shooting and also had nine assists. He has scored at least 20 points in five straight games and should be able to get what he wants tonight against the Pelicans.

Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu will face debuting center Yves Missi tonight, and while the two centers were inconsistent, both played well on Saturday. Capela played 19 minutes on Saturday, scored 4 points and had 14 rebounds, while Okongwu had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hawks’ winning streak has been outstanding and after Saturday’s break, Bogdan Bogdanovic should return tonight. De’Andre Hunter continued to perform well and scored 18 points on Saturday, and Kobe Bufkin is starting to feel more confident in his role. The Hawks have been playing with a nine-man rotation this season when healthy, and that probably won’t happen unless they get a big enough lead against New Orleans.
