The police called for backup and gave chase. A Burlingame police officer found the man near the intersection of Bayswater Avenue and Myrtle Road.

Police say the man was standing in the street with a firearm and shouting.

Rubber bullets allegedly had no effect before one officer from the San Mateo Police Department and one officer from the Burlingame Police Department shot the man with their service weapon around 4 a.m.

Police say they found a loaded .45-caliber Glock handgun.
