Portage, Indiana shooting: Brandy Manville fatally shot by husband in Monument Avenue home; daughter injured – police say

PORTAGE, Ind. (WLS) — Police are investigating after The bodies of two people were found on Friday at home in northwest Indiana.

The shooting was a murder-suicide, and police identified the couple, who are now deceased.

Police said officers responded to a “domestic disturbance” at a home in the 6300 block of Monument Avenue in Portage, Indiana, at approximately 7:41 p.m.

As officers approached the house, they heard shots inside, police added.

Once inside, officers found two adults who had died. Police said one of them was the shooter.

Authorities said Saturday that one of the victims was a 46-year-old woman, Brandy Manville, who worked as a secretary at Portage High School. The killer was identified as her husband, 45-year-old Charles Manville.

Portage police said another adult, a 21-year-old woman, was found alive and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is related to the deceased man and woman.

Further information was not immediately available. Police said there was no active threat to the community.

Portage police continue to investigate.
