Troopers say a pedestrian in Brevard County has died following a crash

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a passenger car driver was killed in a crash Friday evening.

According to FHP, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. in Brevard County.

Troopers said a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 1, south of the State Road 405 Columbia Boulevard overpass, in the inside lane.

FHP says the cyclist was traveling northbound in the inside lane of U.S. Highway south of the State Route 405 overpass.

The cyclist was not equipped with a forward or rearward facing lighting device.

The Toyota driver said he couldn’t see the cyclist in front, and as a result, the front left side of the car hit him.

The Toyota driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries

FHP said the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
