Bangkok trip revealed Rs 1 lakh visa scam at Delhi airport, two people arrested

Immigration authorities at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has uncovered major visa fraud through: According to a report by News18, the fake visa amounting to Rs 1 lakh led to the arrest of many of the parties involved.

According to the report, one person identified as Kanwaljit was promised Greece trip for 1 lakh by Amritsar resident Rahul Arora. According to the agreement, Kanwaljit was to go to Bangkok, stay there for a few days and then go to Greece.

As planned, Kanwaljit booked a SpiceJet flight to Bangkok on November 20 and without any problems due to Thailand visa on arrival facilities for Indian travelers. However, on the way back, the IGI Immigration Office noticed discrepancies in his passport. The report states that officers noticed that there were residue marks on the side of Kanwaljit’s passport indicating that the sticker needed to be removed, and upon further inspection, they noticed that the Greek visa had been deliberately tampered with.

Caught in lies

Kanwaljit was unable to provide sufficient answers to the official’s questions and was subjected to further investigation which revealed fake visa plan. They found that Arora had pasted a fake Greek visa in Kanwaljit’s passport 1 lakh and changed his travel route through Thailand in an attempt to cheat the authorities.

Kanwaljit had removed the fake visa to board his flight and that’s when he was caught. He pleaded guilty to the conspiracy and was punished by the IGI Airport Police under several sections of IPC and Passport Act. A similar case was also registered against Arora under Art. 318 section 4, art. 336 section 3 and art. 340 section

Arora was found in his hometown and during interrogation he confessed to the racket. He added that the program has been implemented for many years.

Delhi Police busted fake visa syndicate

Earlier on October 24, IGIA police also announced that they had busted a fake visa syndicate and arrested As per a PTI report, the accused has been identified as Prateek Shah, 35, from Surat, Gujarat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said five people were arrested first gang members — Gaurav (28), Nitin Sharma (33), Sarabjeet Kaur (29), Gagandeep Kaur (32) and Reena Kaushal (42) came to know about Shah during the investigation.

On September 28, Kuldeep (21) arrived at IGIA in Delhi and during inspection, it was found that his passport had a fake Canadian tourist visa. She added that an FIR has been registered and an investigation has been initiated into the matter.

The police seized 14 fake visa stickers with the names of various people, 9 stamps of various countries, 16 dyes, among others. CanadaSerbia, Azerbaijan, Macedonia and Bosnia, among others. 80 blank PR card chips, one large printer, a plastic sealing machine, gumming sheets containing holograms of Serbia, Bosnia, Azerbaijan, Great Britain and Macedonia, two laptops, five basic mobile phones, 18 original passports and various stationery items, he added report.
