The TBI is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Cumberland County

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a fatal shooting involving Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office officers is ongoing.

According to the TBI, preliminary information indicates the shooting occurred early Saturday morning at a home at 100 Scott Creek Road in Crossville.

Deputies responded to the home based on a report of shots fired and encountered a man in the driveway, identified as 22-year-old Rodolfo Daniel Lima, armed with a handgun, the TBI said.

Investigators say authorities gave several commands to Lima to drop his weapon, but he refused to comply.

The TBI said the situation escalated when Lima fired at responding officers, resulting in at least one deputy firing his weapon, striking and killing Lima.

According to the TBI, no law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

The TBI said its agents are working to determine the series of events leading up to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

The officers involved in the incident could not be identified.
