Tiruppur Triple Murder: Special teams are searching for clues from a multi-dimensional perspective

Special teams formed to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly couple and their son on Friday at Semalai Goundenpalayam village near Palladam in Tiruppur district are investigating the case from a multi-dimensional point of view.

Deivasigamani (78), a farmer, his wife Alamelu (75) and son Senthilkumar (46), an IT specialist in a private company in Saravanampatti in Coimbatore district, sustained head injuries by the attackers.

Investigators questioned Balamurugan, an agricultural worker belonging to Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district, who was reportedly dismissed from his job in recent months and released later.

Progress remained elusive due to lack of CCTV footage due to the lack of cameras within a radius of about 2 km.

Local historians were also questioned. Besides, the police are also trying to establish whether the murders were caused by previous hostility.

According to reports, the attackers took away jewelry worth eight sovereigns worn by Alamelu and Senthilkumar’s high-end mobile phone.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Protection Movement has submitted a petition to the Avinshipalayam police demanding that farmers be issued weapons license for self-defense, citing an earlier case of murder of four family members in Kallakinar village near Palladam in September 2023.
