Surbiton: Teenagers arrested after police injured with chemical substances

Two British Transport Police (BTP) officers were taken to hospital after being “exposed” to a corrosive alkaline substance during an incident at Surbiton railway station in southwest London.

They were injured after approaching two people who they believed were behaving suspiciously on Friday at around 16:20 GMT.

BTP said their injuries were not life-affecting or life-threatening.

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a corrosive substance in a public space and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
