Former minister Asaduzzaman Noor was attacked by injured students of the July-August Movement when he was taken from prison to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment.

Witnesses said several injured traffic victims attacked Noor when he was taken there for treatment at noon.

The injured victim Bulbul Ahmed alleged that after the incident, the students were taken to principal Birg Gen Rezaur Rahman’s room and the principal confiscated their mobile phones.

The director could not be reached by phone for comment.

The former cultural affairs minister was arrested on September 16 at Nawraton Colony on Bailey Road and sent to jail in connection with a murder case following the fall of the Awami League government.

Noor has represented the Awami League in parliament since 2001. He was elected as Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-2 in the last 12th national parliamentary elections.

He took up the position of Minister of Culture on January 13, 2014, after the victory of the Awami League in the 10th National Parliament elections, which were held on January 5, 2013, and served in this position until January 7, 2019.
